The Sick Be Nourished Project
Tackling Africa &Rastafari Health Care Needs

“Let the Hungry be fed, the Naked clothed, the sick be nourished, aged be protected

“Public health is among the highest priorities in the multifold reforms instituted for the peace, progress and prosperity of Ethiopia. Health institutions, services and trained personnel including the corps of Ethiopian doctors continue to grow. The raising of our country’s standards of public health occupies an important and prominent place in the plans. We have prepared for the peaceful growth and development of our nation…… To improve conditions of life is by itself to benefit present and future generations and however high the cost, this work must be accomplished”.

The sick be nourished project is based on the need to identify the areas where medical and surgical resources are lacking, following the statistical evidence in life morbidity and mortality rates affecting us in our African countries. The Sick be Nourished Project is concerned with the current situation of our repatriates in Shashamane Ethiopia, who face a variety of problems related to their health care needs.

It was the reality of having to deal with this loss that lead to the desire to ensure this was not experienced by another woman. In the initial formation of the project it was known simply as the Health Project however, over the years however, medical and surgical equipment has been donated and the project has made donations of to various projects around the world including Sudan, Ethiopia, Gambia and several projects have benefited in Jamaica. The needs of our Elders have also become more apparent and it became a necessity that the project structure itself to cope with all the demands being placed on it, which includes the needs of I an I in the West too. Hence: the birth of The’ Sick Be Nourished Project’.
